Ezinne Anthonia and Godwin Okechukwu Nwodo Foundation
In loving memory of our iconic Mom and Dad
Sponsorship
As an astute educator, our mother was highly devoted to educating young people for life-long success. Mom began her teaching career at Oji River in the 70s after resigning from the Nigerian Prison Service as a Warderess. and it spanned through to 2015 when she retired as a Headmistress of a well-recognised Primary School in Nkanu West. Throughout Mom’s meritorious years of service as a teacher, she worked in various schools and succeeded in training successful men and women in various speres of life.
Mom was a devoted teacher who believed that the best thing you could do to any child is to train the child and give him or her good education. With this, the child is made and ready to face the world. Mom advocated for education even for those who did not want to go to the university, she encouraged and influenced them into completing primary and secondary school as the minimum. To her, every person needs a basic education foundation which cannot be obtained without completing primary and secondary school. She would speak to mothers and advise against letting their children drop out of primary or secondary school. And those who are eager to go further, mom would strongly encourage them to do so. At some point, she would give all her students names of what she believed they could become in the future, for instance, some of her students she called, accountant, some lawyers, doctors, businessman, Teacher, and Engineer for those who were always fixing thing that broke in school. Those were tiny motivation to keep the young people focused and motivated.
Mom retired as a school Headmistress or Principal as they are called in the Western world. She left indelible marks and lasting legacies in each school she headed.
As part of the foundation’s objective to carry through the legacy of our mother, Ezinne Anthonia and Godwin Okechukwu Nwodo will provide scholarships to students that are brilliant but less privileged and unable to sponsor themselves for a good education. The foundation will also provide academic award to the best primary and secondary school student in Amurri and her maiden hometown Affa.

In honour of our mother’s life lifelong career as a teacher, the foundation will help students who are intellectually gifted but less privileged to support themselves through education.
